I find cocktail rings very fashionable. They dress up any outfit. because they are statement piece, they are usually worn with minimal jewelry.
Although there is no rule to it but cocktail rings are mostly worn either on the fore finger or the middle finger as they can take the focus fromeverything else but your fingers.
They are not meant to be matched with the rest of your outfit. They contrast  but compliment  your outfit in a big way.
